This is a Drawing a Day mini blog for me to get some warmups out and to get back into drawing after a hiatus. The randomization of numbers included is due to drawing themes coming from a random 100 themes challenge; and often may not have much to even do with the drawing at all.

thewombatslair replied to your post: I am really enjoying Manga Studio, I can’t believe…

Can I honestly ask, what is so amazing about it? Seriously, I’ve heard about it a ton, but I have no idea why its so good or what it does differently that makes it good. Explain?

First it has…

Christmas/New Year present — for Tee
This is Tee’s character, B’acha (whom I call B’chan because it’s cute), a blue-skinned, tailed space pirate. Looks like she’s intercepted some flying-sleigh-riding gent’s cargo! Merry Christmas & a Happy 2012, Tee! I only got around to having time in front of the laptop NOW, and ironically at work too :P

OMG I LOVE HER SOOOOOOOO SO SOS SOSOSOSS MUCH!

Uncharted Books: Lemony Snicket & Neil Gaiman Ruin/Save Occupy Wall Street

unchartedbooks:

I love this. That curiosity I mentioned earlier today turned out to be a fairly huge deal when one of the best writers of our time (and not just of young adult fiction, and no, I’m not kidding) posted an essay called “Thirteen Observations made by Lemony Snicket while watching Occupy…

Weekly Art Challenge #5 (Sep. 22 - Sep.28(?)): Get a prompt from the Quick Story Idea Generator and use it to create a comic! You get to work on drawing, plots, characters, paneling…there’s plenty of work to do! - This is part 1 of 2! Submit concept art, paneling, sketches… (all in one post, please!) We’ll work with the final product next week :)
Similar to Challenge #1, but now you have to come up with (most of) the story. This challenge is –in my opinion– longer than usual, but I still hope you can participate on it! I think it’s a fun challenge that lets you work on lots of things at once, so let’s see what you can do!
This week is going to be for submissions of concept art, ideas, character designs, and other sketches or pictures. Not only to give you more time to work on the final comic, but also because it’s fun to see the “backstage” of a comic before the final story :) share all of your thoughts and ideas, so we can compare them with the final comic next week!
Details on this challenge:
Please keep everything to one post! You can submit multiple pictures on the same submission, but make just one submission per comic/story, to avoid spamming everyone’s dashes with separate posts for the same comic.
No fanart/fancomics! I cannot stress this enough. You’ve got a million of possibilities to create characters and settings in here, and restricting it to your fandom isn’t really challenging.
Keep the text in the prompt and write it down on your post, so we can compare it to your comic.
Be careful with the size of your submission! When we worked with comics on Challenge #1 we got some comics that were huge, and messed up with our screens. I recommend keeping it to a maximum width of 800-900px.
It has to be a prompt from the “Quick Story Idea Generator”! There are a couple other story generators on the site, but we’re using this one and only this one. I want to keep this equal to everyone.
You can generate as many stories as you want, until you get one that you like! There’s no problem with that :) you can do as many pages as you want too, but try to keep it short if you want to get it done before the deadline!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! We’ll give you an answer as soon as we can. Once you’re done, go to our submission page and send it in! We’ll be posting everyone’s work during the week.
Have fun!

Weekly Art Challenge #4 (Sep.15 - Sep.21): Go outside (yes, leave Tumblr for a while) and draw a place near you! Look at perspective, lighting…it’s a great chance to practice!
I don’t know about you, but there’s something I tend to avoid a lot: backgrounds, and realism. Some of us don’t get to draw from life often enough, and it’s something that at least I know I need to fix! Drawing from life helps a lot, no matter how simplified or minimalistic your usual style is. So here’s a challenge for that - and it’s a great chance to take some fresh air, too!
Only tip I can give you for now: give it your best! I’m not asking for full-coloured pictures, but if you’re going to do a sketch, take the time to do something good - it’ll be absolutely worth it in the end!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! We’ll try to answer as soon as we can. Once you’re done, go to our submission page and send it in! We’ll be posting everyone’s work during the week. Good luck!
